It can be either, which is why we diagnose across the whole array before quoting anything. Dust, cracked glass and new shading usually show up as a gradual decline; a dead string or a failed inverter shows up as a sudden one. The electrical side is covered under our solar electrical service.

Will working on the array damage my roof?

Every mount is a hole in your roof, so we check penetrations and flashing around the hardware while we are up there. Rails that are pulling away get re-seated rather than left, because that is what turns a mounting problem into a roof problem.
